CULMINA CON ÉXITO EL II ENCUENTRO DEL PATRIMONIO CULTURAL INMATERIAL DE LOS PUEBLOS DE HONDURAS
Después de cuatro días de diálogo, aprendizaje e intercambio, concluyó en Roatán el II Encuentro del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de los Pueblos de Honduras, un espacio que reunió a representantes de los pueblos indígenas y afrohondureños, portadores culturales, especialistas e instituciones comprometidas con la protección de nuestra herencia viva.
Del 11 al 14 de agosto de 2026, compartimos conocimientos, lenguas, relatos, prácticas tradicionales, expresiones artísticas y experiencias comunitarias. También reflexionamos sobre los desafíos y las oportunidades para fortalecer la salvaguardia del patrimonio cultural inmaterial desde la participación activa de sus verdaderos protagonistas: los pueblos y sus comunidades.
Para la Zona Libre Turística de Islas de la Bahía, ZOLITUR, haber sido institución coorganizadora y anfitriona de este Encuentro reafirma nuestro compromiso con un desarrollo turístico sostenible y regenerativo que respete la identidad, fortalezca las capacidades locales y contribuya a transmitir nuestros saberes a las nuevas generaciones.
Expresamos nuestro agradecimiento a la Secretaría de las Culturas, las Artes y los Patrimonios de los Pueblos de Honduras, SECAPPH, a la Municipalidad de Roatán, a las instituciones colaboradoras, ponentes, delegaciones, portadores culturales y equipos de trabajo que hicieron posible esta histórica reunión.
El Encuentro finaliza, pero los compromisos asumidos continúan. Nos corresponde transformar las reflexiones compartidas en acciones concretas, nuevas alianzas y procesos permanentes de protección, documentación y transmisión cultural.
Porque nuestro patrimonio no pertenece únicamente al pasado:
vive en quienes lo practican, lo transmiten y lo protegen.
Roatán fue el punto de encuentro. Honduras seguirá construyendo el camino.

SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION OF THE II MEETING ON THE INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF THE PEOPLES OF HONDURAS
After four days of dialogue, learning, and exchange, the II Meeting on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Honduras concluded in Roatán. The event brought together representatives of Indigenous and Afro-Honduran peoples, cultural bearers, specialists, and institutions committed to protecting our living heritage.
From August 11 to 14, 2026, we shared knowledge, languages, stories, traditional practices, artistic expressions, and community experiences. We also reflected on the challenges and opportunities for strengthening the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage through the active participation of its true protagonists: the peoples and their communities.
For the Tourist Free Zone of the Bay Islands (ZOLITUR), having served as a co-organizing institution and host of this Meeting reaffirms our commitment to sustainable and regenerative tourism development that respects identity, strengthens local capacities, and contributes to passing our knowledge on to future generations.
We express our gratitude to the Secretariat of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of the Peoples of Honduras (SECAPPH), the Municipality of Roatán, collaborating institutions, speakers, delegations, cultural bearers, and the teams whose efforts made this historic gathering possible.
The Meeting may be over, but the commitments made continue. It is our responsibility to turn the reflections we shared into concrete actions, new partnerships, and ongoing processes for the protection, documentation, and transmission of our culture.
Because our heritage does not belong solely to the past:
it lives in those who practice it, pass it on, and protect it.
Roatán was the meeting point. Honduras will continue building the path forward.
